It's been sued about several times before. Kids just use it as a scapegoat for their stupidity and parents blame it because 1) they believe their precious angel would never do it and 2) they really have no idea what video games are. Any kid who plays grand theft auto and decides to get up and go re-enact it with a friend... deserves to be removed from the gene pool.

I bet that guy who jumped over Niagara Falls (and lived) could sue Warner Brothers claiming that he saw the Coyote do the same thing.

It's shocking to me how many people will blame a piece of entertainment for a crime. Even if a film or game inspired you to mow down a busload of nuns, you still had to take the initiative to pick up a gun, aim it at a bunch of nuns and start shooting. The game didn't make you do it. It didn't hold a gun to your head and say mow down these nuns or you're history. At some point, you made a conscious choice. The game had nothing to do with that.
This suit is bullshit. It's time for lawmakers to put some personal responsibility back into law.

I don't think they've been sued for a quarter of a billion dollars though. :o

I saw this one a couple of weeks ago. [link]
Parents suing the NFL for a fan who drank 14 beers, and then got in a car accident. Saying the NFL is liable for what a drunk ass fan does. What ever happened to self control and accountabliity?

The problem is that some jackass lawyer will pick this up to try to score a huge fee, or make a name for him/herself (don't want to exculde the female jackass lawyers). I imagine money is why they are going after the video game producer rather than the family of the kids who didn't supervise their kids or teach them basic handy things like 'don't shoot at people'.

I don't know. I've played endless hours of GTA and then gotten in my car and had strong urges to run people over, jumnp bridges and slam into police cars... sometimes its hard to control those impulses. .... maybe ... no... can't ..... Aarrgghhh.. can't ..control ... self...
